Meeting the Mayor!

Posted to the Noticeboard on March 10, 2023

A Message from Young Healthwatch: Thomas, along with others, recently met the Mayor. We’re happy to say he’s one of our volunteers too.

Here’s what he had to say about the meeting:

“I, along with other members of the WY Youth Collective, Youth Parliament, Young Healthwatch, and other groups from across our region met with the Mayor of West Yorkshire, Tracy Brabin, and her team. We discussed what young people wanted to improve and change, and how we can work together to improve outcomes for young people and increase youth involvement in decision making across the county.

Topics such as crime, safety, violence against women and girls, housing, education, and transport were discussed, with Tracy answering questions from the group. It’s brilliant that we as young people get heard, especially by decision makers and those in the highest levels of

authority. We will continue to work with Tracy and the West Yorkshire Combined Authority in the future and have some great ideas for improvement. Watch this space!”

– Thomas Smith, WY Youth Collective Member and Healthwatch Volunteer
