Symptoms you may experience after having a virus
This may feel like you can’t get enough air in your lungs or catch your breath.
Some people also experience a tight feeling in their chest.
Sometimes being in the cold can also make these symptoms seem worse.
If 2 weeks after your illness this is affecting your normal activities like walking upstairs or walking fast, then you should contact your GP for advice.
This may feel like you are very tired most of the time.
You may also struggle to concentrate or notice problems remembering things- you may hear some people call this ‘brain fog’.
If the tiredness is affecting your normal activities like walking upstairs or wanting/ needing to sleep all the time, 2 weeks after your illness, then you should contact your GP for advice.
This may make you feel down, fed up or overwhelmed.
This may make you ache (with pain in your elbows or knees for example) and may even include stomach-ache, stomach upset or pins and needles (a tingly feeling usually in your fingers or toes).
If these symptoms do not get better after 4 weeks then please contact your GP for advice.
You may have trouble falling or staying asleep or even sleeping too much.
This may include:
- a high temperature
- cough
- headaches
- sore throat
- a rash
You may find your favourite foods taste and smell differently following your COVID illness. Food may taste bland, salty, sweet or metallic.
These changes are usually short-term but can affect your appetite and how much you eat.
