If you need support to build your confidence, develop employability skills, create a CV, search for opportunities or prepare for interviews, there are a range of local and national organisations and services that can help you take your next steps. If you are in school or college, you can speak to your school or college careers adviser for support.
You can also seek support from:
STEP-UP – Wakefield Council Free employment and skills service. They can support young people aged 16–24 with CV writing, interview preparation, confidence building, finding apprenticeships, training and employment opportunities, and developing skills.
Shaw Trust – Includes supported internships for young people aged 16–24 with an EHCP
National Careers Service – free government-funded service that provides careers information, advice and guidance to help people make decisions about learning, training and work
Prospects – careers website aimed mainly at students, college leavers, university students and graduates.
Careers Explorer – Heart of Yorkshire Education Group – a free online tool that helps you explore different careers, local job opportunities, salaries and training routes
The Kings Trust – supports young people aged 16–30 to build confidence, develop skills and move into education, training or employment.
